It is that time of the year again, when we host the Namibia Job search Boot Camp for Zimbabweans. Last year’s Namibia Employment Boot Camp was hosted by Oasis College Namibia. The Blog for the Event had over 8000 followers with only 100 Participant making it for the Camp. Due to demand, the Boot Camp has been opened to all interested Zimbabweans. The Employment Boot Camp is an annual event organized by the Zimbabwe Society in Namibia in partnership with the Young Professionals Society of Zimbabwe, Oasis College Namibia and the Namibia Young Professionals Society.

This year’s Boot Camp is sponsored by Venkatshwara Open University which offers accredited and recognized online Degree Programs throughout the world. As part of establishing its Southern Africa’s presence, the University has partnered with the Employment Boot Camp’s Organizers and Sponsors to provide financial support and resources for the 2016 Boot Camp. In an effort to reach more participants, this year’s Boot Camp will be open to all willing and able Zimbabweans.

This year’s 2016 Employment Boot Camp will run under the title “The Job Search Boot Camp” and will partly be sponsored by the University while willing participants will pay US$499 upon arrival.

The 2016 Package includes accommodation for 14 days, Meals, Local Transportation and a dedicated driver, Qualifications Evaluation, CV polishing, Postage, Wifi Access, Printing, Photocopying, Local Certification of Certificates, Post Box, Cell phone line, visit to the Coast in Swakopmund and Welvis Bay, Meeting with Zimbabwean Business people and those working in Namibia, Entertainment among others. The Programme Associate, Logistics works closely with the National Programme Analyst RHCS on the day to day forecasting, ordering and tracking of RH commodities, in-country clearing, storage, receiving, recording and distribution. His/her role is to facilitate a fully accountable, smoothly functioning, well-managed and results-oriented delivery and distribution of RH commodities procured by UNFPA. The Commodity Logistics officer closely collaborates with the programme and operational staff in the Country Office.
Organizational Setting
Under the overall guidance of the Representative and Deputy Representative, and direct supervision of the RHCS Analyst, the Commodity Logistics Officer will provide leadership on timely, effective and efficient Inventory management of UNFPA procured RH commodities to meet commodity security needs in Zambia.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Supports the documentation on procurement needs based on national forecasting and quantification exercise for UNFPA supported inventory, including RH commodities, dignity kits and medical equipment;
  • Provides the necessary support to recipients of UNFPA procurements to respond to challenges regarding ordering and delivery of the procured commodities. In addition, monitors the shipments, and regularly reports on the status within an effective inventory management system for UNFPA procured commodities;
  • Maintains continuous and accurate/up-dated flow of information between UNFPA headquarters, and Country Office. Works with PSB delivery schedule and liaises with local consignees and medical stores to ensure adherence to the schedules. In addition, provides the necessary support to recipients of UNFPA procurements to respond to challenges regarding delivery of the procured commodities;
  • Collaborates with the RHCS analyst to ensure effective representation for UNFPA in related inter-agency meetings and working groups regarding procurement and supplies;
  • Ensures timely and correct entries of procurement needs into ATLAS procurement module and regularly updating fo the Shipment tracking and inventory management tools;
  • Liaises with local clearing agencies to ensure timely clearance and delivery of commodities to the designated consignee;
  • Work with government at all levels and CSO partners to ensure appropriate warehousing of all the supplies at all levels and last mile distribution to service delivery points;
  • Prepares and monitors financial transactions for RH commodities, equipment and supplies in accordance with UNFPA financial rules and procedures. In addition, ensures the effective financial recording and reporting system, internal control and audit follow-up;
  • Supports resource mobilization and advocacy efforts related to RH commodity requirements for the country. In addition, contributes to corporate reporting for core and non-core funds related to RH commodities and other inventory items;
  • Undertakes other related duties assigned by the Representative.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
  • Completed Secondary Level Education required. First level university degree is an asset.
Knowledge and Experience
  • 6 years of relevant experience in providing support to programme/ project management related to procurement and supply chain management, as well as inventory management for commodities, equipment and supplies;
  • Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills;
  • Ability to organize effectively, work under pressure with attention to detail, precision and accuracy;
  • Dedication to UN principles and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with persons of different national background.
Language
  • Fluency in written and verbal English is required.
  • Knowledge of a second UN language is an advantage.
